Chapter 3 – 1: “A Precious Photograph”

The only photograph our family has of the Wasersztejns from Jedwabne, I learned the back-story from my father. Dressed in their high holiday best, the family trekked to the Rembrandt Studio in Łomża. The photograph (circa 1926) was sent to Motl, who by then was making his way in Havana, Cuba.

Mendel discovered that Manguito was quite a distance from Havana as he traveled in an old jalopy from the port city to his new home in the province of Matanzas.

ch3-2In the sixty-eighth Congress of the United States, Session 1, Chapter 190 and in 32 sections, the Immigration Act of 1924 was written into law.
